As of August 26 Ukraine sowed winter rapeseed throughout 40% of the forecasted areas
As of August 26, Ukraine sowed winter rapeseed throughout the areas of 385 thsd ha, or 40% of the forecast, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
According to the report, in the current year sowing rates of winter rapeseed exceeded last year indices, which on the same date last year totaled 271 thsd ha.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in the current year agricultural enterprises prepared 8.5 mln ha or 92% of the forecast, for the sowing campaign of winter crops.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy forecasts crop sowing areas in 2011 at the level of 9.2 mln ha of winter crops, including winter grains - 8.3 mln ha, up 200 thsd ha compared to 2010.
In 2010 Ukraine sowed winter crops for green fodder and grains throughout almost 9.3 mln ha, down 9.1% compared to 2009. The areas under winter grains decreased by 5.5% - to 8.088 mln ha.
