As of August 18, Ukraine harvested 34.1 mln tonnes of grains – Ministry of Agrarian Policy
As of August 18, 2011, Ukraine produced nearly 34.1 mln tonnes of grains with the average yield of 30.5 c/ha (last year the yield totaled 24.7 c/ha), reported the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
According to the Ministry, agrarians harvested grains and leguminous crops (without maize) throughout the areas of 11.15 mln ha, or 99.5% of the forecast. Agrarians have to harvest the remaining 55 thsd ha, including 24 thsd ha of wheat sowings.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported that as of August 17 the certified grain storages received 9443.2 thsd tonnes of grains, which totaled 28% of the produced volumes, including 6051 thsd tonnes of wheat, 2099 thsd tonnes of barley, 67.9 thsd . tonnes of peas and 64.7 thsd tonnes of rye.
As of August 18, agrarians prepared the soil for sowing of winter crops throughout the areas of 7.6 mln ha, or 83% of the forecast.
According to the Department of plant growing markets, the sowing areas of winter crops for the harvest-2012 will occupy the areas of 9.2 mln ha, including 8.2 mln ha of winter grain sowings and 1 mln ha of winter rapeseed, which is practically equal to the last year indices.
