As of April 22, Ukraine sowed early spring crops throughout 92% of the planned areas
According to operative data of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, as of April 22, 2011, Ukrainian agrarians sowed spring grains and leguminous plants throughout the areas of nearly 3.7 mln ha, which totaled 49% from the planned areas, including early spring grains and leguminous crops – 3.39 mln ha, 92% of the forecast, declared the media department of the Ministry.
In particular, agrarians sowed spring wheat throughout 267 thsd ha or 95% from the planned areas, barley – nearly 2.52 mln ha (90%), oats – 302 thsd ha (95%), peas – 280 thsd ha (92%).
Agricultural enterprises started maize sowing works, and sowed the grain throughout the areas of 316 thsd ha, 10% of the planned areas.
As of the reporting date, agricultural enterprises sowed sunflower throughout 534 thsd ha (15% of the forecast).
