Another two Ukrainian cheese factories may be allowed to supply cheese to Russia
Rospotrebnadzor experts are completing the inspection of another two Ukrainian factories, which want to supply cheese to the Russian market.
"There is no reason to say that we will not allow them to supply, but no decision on the matter has been done yet. It may be made today," Gennady Onishchenko, the head of Russia's Rospotrebnadzor and chief sanitary inspector of Russia, told Interfax on Saturday.
This wee, Rospotrebnadzor inspectors have visited Ukraine's Lozova Dairy Plant and the private enterprise Ros (branch of the Akhtyrka Cheese Factory).
"The inspections are now nearing competition. After they are completed, we will make a final decision on whether these enterprises will be able to give us sampled for lab control," Onishchenko said.
"Ukraine is not taking any measures to fulfill the agreements on the accreditation on the territory of Ukraine of laboratories we will trust and whose tests we will recognize. Nothing is currently being done in this direction. There are reasons to believe that this may aggravate the situation and prevent its normalization in the future," he said.
The Russian sanitary services have lifted the embargo on the supply of cheese from four Ukrainian enterprises (ООО Hadiachsyr, Pyriatynsky Cheese Factory, Prometei (Mensky branch), and Dubnomoloko). Cheese samples from these factories have been tested in Rospotrebnadzor labs.
According to earlier reports, Russia banned the import into Russia of cheese from some Ukrainian cheese factories because their products failed to meet the Russian technical regulations on milk and dairy products.
On February 27, Onishchenko told Interfax Ukraine had halved its supply of cheese to Russia over quality complaints made by the Russian sanitary services.
