Agroton boosts net profit by 2.5 times in Q1, 2012

Agroton, a Ukrainian agricultural group (Luhansk), in the first quarter of 2012 saw $17.62 million in net profit, which was 2.56 times up year-over-year, reads a company report published on June 5, 2012.

The report says that its net revenue grew by 50.4%, to $37.49 million, including a rise of 61.7% in sales, to $20.32 million, while the rest of the revenue growth is linked to the re-assessment of biological assets.

The group's gross profit in the first quarter of 2012 came to $18.35 million, which was almost 46% up year-over-year, and its EBITDA stood at $20.79 million, a rise of almost 2.2 times.

Founded in 1992, Agroton's core business is the cultivation, processing, storage and sale of crops - chiefly sunflower and wheat. The company also handles the production and sale of livestock, as well as food production. The company controls elevators with a total capacity of 285,000 tonnes.

Agroton in late October 2010 at an initial public offering (IPO) placed 5.67 million shares (26.2% of its charter capital) and raised PLN 153 million (about $56 million).

In 2011, its net loss was $2.1 million, compared to a net profit of $15.73 million in 2010. Its revenues grew by 25.4%, to $122.1 million.
