The growth in agricultural output volumes slowed down to 0.4% for January / August compared with this same time last year, while it quickened in the sector throughout the previous months and reached 3.8% for January / July, reported the State Statistics Committee. These figures imply a decline in the agricultural sector in August. The output volume of agricultural enterprises decreased by 3.6% for the eight months, while it grew by 5.9% for the seven months. Household farms increased their output volumes by 3.8% for January / August that is higher than for January / July (1.8%). Economy Minister Bogdan Danylyshyn explained the August figures by a high comparative statistical basis: he reminded that the agricultural sector expanded by 21% in January / August 2008, including a 45.2% growth shown by agricultural enterprises.
