Agricultural organizations of Belarus started maize sowing campaign
Agricultural organizations of Belarus started maize sowing campaigner, declared the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus.
As of April 23, 2010, agricultural enterprises sowed maize throughout 30.2 thsd ha, or 3.8% of the planned sowing areas. According to information of the Ministry, all oblasts started maize sowing campaign, and Brest oblast has already started the mass sowing campaign. Agrarians sowed flaxseed throughout 17.7 thsd ha (25% of the planned areas).
Generally, Belarus sowed spring crops throughout 1.06 mln ha, or 44.2% of the planned areas. Agrarians sowed early spring grains and leguminous plants throughout 82% of the planned areas. Brest oblast exceeded the sowing campaign of early spring crops by 2.5%.
As a reminder, in 2010, agricultural enterprises of the country plan to sow spring crops throughout 2.4 mln ha, including 1.1 mln ha of spring grains and leguminous plants.
