Agrarian authorities: 2.6% of winter crops dead in Ukraine

As of March 25, 0.23 million hectares out of 8.56 million hectares of winter grain crops were killed in Ukraine, representing 2.6% of sown areas, UKRINFORM reported citing the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

1.19 million ha of crops (or 14.3%) are in a weak and sparse condition, and about 0.39 million ha (4.5%) require the replanting.

In addition, 0.68 million ha, or 8% of crops are under the ice. This phenomenon is recorded in Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Sumy, Poltava and Kyiv regions.

According to the Ministry, 3.38 million ha of sown winter crops (40.6%) are in good condition, and another 3.8 million ha (45%) - in a satisfactory condition.

As referred to winter rape, its crops were killed on the area of 0.19 million ha, accounting for 13.2% of all acreages of this crop. In a weak and thinned condition are 0.32 million ha (27%), and reseeding is projected on the area of 0.26 million ha (18.3%).
