About 51% of residents buy food in market
A research carried out by Research & Branding Group in October 2009 in 24 regions of Ukraine and the Crimea republic, has shown that 51% of Ukrainian residents buy food in the market. About 3,118 respondents aged over 18 participated in the poll. Almost 45% of those polled prefer to buy food in small outlets and provision shops, 31% in super- and hypermarkets, and 6% in stalls and stands. The main visitors of market are Ukrainians aged 50-54 years (60% of respondents of this age group). At the same time, many of them also visit provision shops and large supermarkets, 45% and 31% of those polled respectively. Young people aged 18-29 years prefer supermarkets and small outlets (43% and 43% of those polled respectively). Food markets are popular among 42% of respondents in this group. Buyers aged 30-39 years prefer markets (52%), small stores and provision shops (42%). Preferences of customers aged 40-49 can be described in the same way. About 51% of them buy food in markets, 45% small stores and provision shops.
