95% of grain threshed in Ukraine
As of 12 August, 2010 Ukraine harvested 28.41 million tons of grain from an area of 11.52 million hectares (95%). The average yield of grain and leguminous crops is 24.7 centners per hectare.
By that date, 17,650,000 tons of wheat was threshed on 6.35 million hectares (98% of the forecast) with an average yield of 28.3 centners per hectare.
Farmers have also harvested 9.18 million tons of barley from 4.33 million hectares accounting for 99% of the forecast. The average grain yield is 21.2 centners per hectare.
In addition, by the reporting date 488 tons of rye had been threshed, with an average yield of 17.9 centners per hectare.
Also, 484,000 tons of peas were threshed on 281 thousand hectares (99% of the forecast) with an average yield of 17.2 centners per hectare.
Furthermore, farmers have started harvesting buckwheat and millet. Thus, by the reporting date 17.8 thousand tons of buckwheat was threshed on 22 thousand hectares with an average yield of 8.1 centners per hectare. 30 thousand tons of millet was harvested, having been threshed on 18.3 thousand hectares, the average yield being 16.4 centners per hectare.
825 thousand hectares of rape was threshed, and 1.39 million tons of oilseeds were harvested, with an average yield of 16.9 centners per hectare.
