2010 grain acreage 15.9 million hectares
Areas under grain crops are expected to reach 15.9 million hectares in 2010, which is equal to the 2009 acreage, the press service of the agricultural policy ministry quoted Minister Yuriy Melnyk as saying.
In his words, winter crops will be sown on 8.1 million hectares, and summer crops on 7.8 million hectares, which corresponds to this year's acreage and science-based recommendations.
The minister noted that farmers are planning to increase areas under corn and pea, as well as under technical crops like soy and flax, at the cost of reducing areas under sunflower.
