2009 sugar beet crop fell by 25.4%, down to 10.021 mn MT
As reported State Statistics Committee referring to 2009 main agricultural crops harvesting results, in 2009 agrarians have harvested 10.021 mn MT sugar beet, down 3.417 mn MT (- 25.4%) against 2008.

In 2009, Nikholaev port (Ukraine) processed 8.01 mln tonnes of cargoes. Last year, grains and oilseeds dominated in the structure of cargo flow of Nikholaev commercial seaport. The port exported nearly 5 mln tonnes of cargoes, declared the media-department of Nikholaev commercial seaport.

On January 19, Russia purchased 27 thsd tonnes of wheat to the intervention fund
On January 19, 2010, the National commodity exchange (Russia) provided the regular exchange auction within the bounds of the public purchasing interventions on the market of grains. The government purchased 27 thsd tonnes of grains at the general sum of 100.76 mln RUR, declared the media department of CJSC National commodity exchange.

Sunflower seed production down 2.5% in 2009
Sunflower seed production fell by 2.5% in 2009 year-over-year, to 6.4 million tons, due to a reduction in the sowing area by 86,700 hectares or 2%, the State Statistics Committee has reported.

In 2009, Ukraine increased agricultural products output by 0.1%
According to preliminary data of the State Committee of Statistics of Ukraine, in 2009, the general production volumes of the agricultural industry of all varieties of agrarian economies of Ukraine increased by 0.1%, including agrarian enterprises – reduced by 0.6%, economies of the population – grew by 0.6%, declared the State Committee of Statistics on January 18.

About 90% of winter crops in Ukraine in good, satisfactory condition
About 46.1%, or almost four million hectares of the winter crops in Ukraine were in good condition and about 43.9% (3.74 million hectares) in a satisfactory condition as of Jan. 14, according to the Agriculture Ministry.

European vegetable oils ease
Good crop weather in South America, a stronger dollar and weak mineral oil pushed European vegetable oils lower on Friday, market sources said. "Sentiment is mostly bearish and the strong dollar also helped weighing on price levels, even with slightly better palm oil exports for the first half of January," one broker said.
