Verkhovna Rada deputies propose ban on genetically modified food
Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine intend to ban genetically modified foods and those containing genetically modified ingredients in Ukraine. The draft law on the matter was introduced in late October 2009. Only Ukrainian products intended for export are to be an exception to the law. Import to Ukraine will only be allowed for genetically modified products for scientific research purposes or official tests.
