Ukraine's GDP in 2009 down by 15%
According to the report of the finance ministry on execution of 2009 national budget, the growth of real GDP in 2009 was planned at the level of 0.4%, and actually there was a fall by 15%.
The nominal GDP was expected at UAH 1046.5 billion, and actually it was UAH 133.9 billion less. Despite implementation of anti-inflation measures in 2009, annual inflation exceeded the target figure by 2.8 percentage points. One of the causes behind economic decline in 2009 was idle banking system and reduction of economy crediting volumes by UAH 10.7 billion on 2008, when in the previous three years the growth of credits in the economy was averagely UAH 197 billion.
