Ukraine to export over 20 mln tonnes of grains
From the beginning of the current MY, Ukraine supplied over 9.5 mln tonnes of wheat, which exceeded the average indices of the same period of 2008/09 MY, declared Vladimir Klimenko, the president of Ukrainian grain association, on November 12.
According to his forecasts, in 2009/10 MY (July-June), grain exports from Ukraine will total over 20 mln tonnes. Last MY, Ukraine supplied 25 mln tonnes of grains on foreign markets, and took the third place in the rate of the world grain exports after the USA and the European Union. Besides, Ukraine exported 4 mln tonnes of sunflower, rapeseed and soybean.
During the recent decade, Ukraine founded one of the best systems of grain exports in the world, basing on the traditional principles of Ukrainian market economics and developed cooperation of business, the authorities and social organizations of the agro industrial complex, added the president of the association.
According to him, to date, private shipment complexes in the ports of Ukraine allow exporting over 32 mln tonnes of grains per year. Ukrainian grain association expects for the growth of prices for wheat and maize in the next year.
