Ukraine: the law on grain export duties cancellation can be signed soon

The law on the abolition of export duties on wheat and maize from Ukraine may be signed by the head of state in the near future, was announced during the Round Table within the 2nd Ukrainian Grain Congress, which took place in Kiev on October, 17-18.

As the president of the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA), Vladimir Klimenko, said the law would be adopted in any case.

According to the Director of the Department of Agrarian Market of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Sergey Kvasha, uncertainty about cancellation of duties affects the intensity of grain exports from Ukraine. However, he said, market participants are waiting for the signing of this law by the President in the near future.

S. Kvasha informed that since the beginning of the current marketing year till mid-October Ukraine exported 1.625 million tonnes of wheat, barley - 1.67 million tonnes, maize - 500 thousand tonnes and rapeseed - 530 thousand tonnes .

Currently, the Ukrainian ports have 1.26 million tonnes of grains, including 660 thousand tonnes of wheat and about 300 thousand tonnes of barley and maize.

According to him, the plans of the Ministry as for the grain exports total 23-24 million tonnes before the end of the marketing year.
