The country’s reseeding areas may total over 1 Ml ha (10-15%). The long winter not only kills part of winter crops, but also exhausts plants, reduces their yield potential.
Spring crops sowing started later than last year, but very soon the current sowing campaign overtook the result of the last year. By April 08 the sowing slowed down due to rains in some regions.
Total spring grains planted area approximated 1.98 ml ha as of April 08 or 46% of intended area (4.27 ml ha). Spring wheat was sown on the area of 101.1 th ha (the intended area approximates 300 th ha), barley – on 1.59 ml ha, peas – on 175.2 th ha (286 th ha).
UkrAgroConsult believes that during next two weeks the sowing will accelerate greatly as it was during previous seasons.
