Ukraine seeks deeper investment cooperation with Serbia
Ukraine is interested in deepening investment cooperation with Serbia, Ukraine's Minister of Economy Bohdan Danylyshyn said this at a meeting with Serbian Ambassador to Ukraine Dusan Lazic, the ministry press-service has reported.
According to Danylyshyn, Serbia is ranked 46th among trade partners of Ukraine worldwide and is the No.35 market outlet for Ukrainian goods in terms of capacity.
Thus, in the first nine months of the year bilateral goods turnover posted USD 131 million. The export of goods and services from Ukraine to Serbia made USD 92 million. In turn, the import of Serbian goods and services to Ukraine was USD 39 million. A positive balance for Ukraine for the period under report is USD 53 million.
The Ukrainian minister emphasized that at the end of nine months of 2009 the Ukrainian economy has remained attractive for foreign investments.
Thus, the total foreign direct investments in Ukraine as of October 1 totaled USD 38.6 billion (USD 837.5 per capita).
According to the Ministry of Economy, as of October 1 a total of USD 44.1 million of Serbian investments has been attracted to Ukraine (0.1% of the total foreign direct investments in Ukraine). The growth of Serbian investments in Ukraine in nine months made USD 1.9 million.
