The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine recommended to the State Enterprise with Foreign Investments Suntrade and to Kernel–Trade Ltd. to abstain from the illegitimate increase of sunflower oil prices of the most popular trade marks of social brands, announced the press-service of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine on September 16.

According to the information which the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has, in 2009/10 MY Ukraine produced 3.1 mln tonnes of sunflower oil. The country exported 2.64 mln tonnes of the product. The country domestic demands of sunflower oil totaled nearly 400 thsd tonnes. Thus, the production volumes exceeded the domestic consumption level by 8.15 times.

In 2010, the country sunflower sowing areas totaled 5.5 mln ha, as opposed to 2009 – 4.1. mln tonnes. Even if the yield is not high enough due to the high temperatures and rains absence, sunflower seed production forecast can not be lower compared to the last year level. So there is no any base for the statement about sunflower seeds deficit for processing enterprises of Ukraine , underlined the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine .

According to the information of the Committee, the largest sunflower oil producers in Ukraine are Kernel–Trade Ltd. and the State Enterprise with Foreign Investments Suntrade, which shares on sunflower oil market total over 50%.

Sunflower oil producers made a commitment to keep the demands of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine about providing the reasonable prices for own products, officially announced Suntrade and Kernel–Trade to the Committee.

In particular, Suntrade said in the letter that the company took the decision to hold the sale prices for sunflower oil of the social brands on the current level.

In return the company Kernel–Trade informed that the company took the obligation to provide the price stability and hold sunflower oil sale prices on the current level.
