Ukraine lowered carry-over stocks of grains by 20%
As of March 1, 2010, agricultural enterprises of Ukraine (except of small ones), and grain storing and processing enterprises stocked 12.8 mln tonnes of grains (down 21% compared to March 1, 2009), including 5.8 mln tonnes of wheat, 3.1 mln tonnes of barley, 2.4 mln tonnes of maize, 0.6 mln tonnes of rye, informed the State Committee of Statistics of Ukraine on March 16.
Directly agrarian enterprises stocked 6.3 mln tonnes of grains (down 20% compared to the previous year indices), including 2.3 mln tonnes of wheat, 1.8 mln tonnes of barley, 1.2 mln tonnes of maize, 0.2 mln tonnes of rye.
According to the data of the State Committee of Statistics, as of the reporting date, sunflower seed reserves in Ukraine totaled 3.1 mln tonnes, up 10% compared to March 1, 2009. Directly agrarian enterprises stocked 1.1 mln tonnes of sunflower seed (down 3% compared to the last year), processing and storing enterprises – 2 mln tonnes (up 19%).
