Ukraine leaves Russia, Canada behind in grain exports
Ukraine now ranks third after the US and the EU in terms of grain exports, leaving behind Russia and Canada, Prime Minister Julia Tymoshenko said Tuesday. In 2008 Ukraine harvested 53,3 mln tons of grain. This year's harvest totaled 48,5 mln tons. Tymoshenko explains this with successful implementation of policies aimed at boosting rural financing. Tymoshenko also said that in 2009 Ukraine's grain reserves have grown to 1, 41 mln tons.
