Ukraine harvested grains and leguminous plants throughout the area of 13.7 mln ha as of the beginning of October
According to the State Committee of Statistics of Ukraine, as of October 1, 2009, agricultural economies of all varieties harvested grains and leguminous plants (without maize) throughout the areas of 13.7 mln ha, an increase of 2.8% compared to the same date of 2008, which totaled 86.3% of the sowing areas for the harvest-2009.
The production volumes of agricultural enterprises totaled 29.8 mln tonnes of grains, down 14.3%. Economies of the population produced 9.1 mln tonnes of grains, down 9.1%. The average yield of agrarian enterprises totaled 28.7 c/ha, down 6.3 c/ha, economies of the population had the yield of 27.5 c/ha, down 4.7 c/ha.
Winter grains took nearly 66% in the general production volumes of grains and leguminous plants (except of maize), or 25.6 mln tonnes, down 14.6% compared to the previous year, including 20.8 mln tonnes of winter wheat (down 20.2%).
The production volumes of spring grains (13.3 mln tonnes) decreased by 10.2% compared to the beginning of October 2008. Barley took 64% in the general production of spring grains (or 8.6 mln tonnes). The decrease of the yield index by 8.1 c/ha caused the reduction of the general production volumes of the grain by 1.8 mln tonnes, or 17%.
