Following the acceptance of the law on export duties for grains by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the market will possibly face reduction of prices for grains, especially for maize. Representatives of the range of Ukrainian grain trading companies declared such forecast to experts of APK-Inform Agency.
According to them, rather high rate of the customs duties may cause that work of the companies would be unprofitable. At the same time, taking into account the ratio of current prices for grains and the customs duties, it is quite possible that the export trade may eventually turn out to be profitable.
The low interest of the world market in Ukrainian grains is the other factor that has influence on the reduction of prices. At the same time, due to the closure of grain exports from Russia Ukraine has all chances to get quite good profit in this segment of trade.
Agricultural producers consider the possible decrease of prices for grains, especially for maize, as unlikely. According to experts of APK-Inform Agency, operators of the market still do not give comments on the customs duties, because the mechanism of the duties collection is not clear.
To date, grain trading companies wait for the further developments. They also require to cancel the export quotas for wheat, which will free grain elevator capacities for the new harvest.
