Ukraine expects for high sunflower oil production
In 2010/11 MY, sunflower seed production in Ukraine is expected at the level of 7 mln tonnes, and sunflower oil production – over 3.1 mln tonnes, declared Stepam Kapshuk, the General Director of the Association Ukroliyaprom, during his presentation at the conference "Oilseeds & Oils 2010" on October 18, in Istanbul.
According to him, the high purchasing prices stimulate agricultural commodity producers to increase oilseed seeds production.
In 2010/11 MY, the general oilseed production in Ukraine will exceed the level of 10 mln tonnes. According to S.Kapshuk, the growth is caused by enlarging of sunflower and soybean sowing ares.
According to the expert, the new season is characterized by the high demand in vegetable oils, provoked by the unfavorable weather conditions in several countries (the heat, droughts – in the Russian Federation, the EU countries, the floods – in Poland, Pakistan, China).
In spite of Russia, Ukraine expects for the high sunflower seed production and the resulting high sunflower oil production. In the favorable terms, exports of sunflower oil from Ukraine will reach the level of 2.7 mln tonnes, sunflower meal – 2.2 mln tonnes, added S.Kapshuk.
He reminded that in 2009/10 MY, for the first time Ukraine reached the record volume of vegetable oils production – 3 mln tonnes, including 2.94 mln tonnes of sunflower oil production. In 2009/10 MY, sunflower oil exports totaled 2.6 mln tonnes.
