Ukraine. Estimate of lost winter rapeseed keeps growing
The share of lost winter rapeseed increased by 5% last week up to 295.1 th ha or 20.8% of total planted area (15.4% as of April 01).
Currently winter rapeseed is in good condition on the area of only 370.3 th ha (33% of planted area), in satisfactory condition – on 463.9 th ha (41.3%), weak and thinned – 288.6 th ha (25.7%).
According to the official estimate approximately 377 th ha or 26.6% of winter rapeseed planted area should be resown (282.2 th ha or 19.9% as of April 01). Consequently rapeseed harvest in the 2010/11 season in Ukraine may decrease down to 1.8 MMT (the previous estimate of UkrAgroConsult - 1.87 MMT). Rapeseed harvest in the 2009/10 season reached 1.84 MMT).
About 82.5 th ha should be resown in Vinnitsa region (61.8%), in Kiev region – 36.9 th ha (58.6%), in Khmelnitsky region – 36.5 th ha (38.1%), in Poltava region – 30.5 th ha (80.3%).
