UCAB welcomes signing the food safety law
President Petro Poroshenko signed the Law 0906 “On governmental control carried out in order to verify compliance with the law on safety and quality of food and feeding stuff, animal health and welfare”, supported by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club".
According to UCAB, the adopted Law will allow to prove that the Ukrainian system of veterinary services, the level of state control of animal health and welfare can be predictable, safe and qualitative, which is a guarantee and a basic precondition for the further export of Ukrainian animal products not only to markets of EU countries but also to other countries of the world. Law 0906 provides a number of innovations in the system of state control such as: the verifications of market operators without warning, the professional state control, an exhaustive list of issues for verification, the introduction of a risk-oriented approach (risk assessment has to accompany each important step of both the competent authority and business), the mechanism of mitigating liability for certain violations, etc. UCAB convinced that the entry into force of the Law will ensure the sustainable development of Ukrainian agribusiness sectors and the economy of the state as a whole.
