Turkish cucumbers, imported to Ukraine in 2012, were cheaper than local ones
The import of cucumbers from Turkey to Ukraine in 2012 started right when the season for local cucumbers was finishing, and it was two weeks earlier than in 2011. The Turkish cucumbers were sold at the price 25 - 32 % lower than the cucumbers provided by Ukrainian producers, having acceptable quality. As a result, Ukrainian greenhouses owners were unsatisfied with prices level for cucumbers of 2nd crop rotation, escpesially taking into account the fact that this season the cucumbers prices level remained the same as in the previous year, while operating expenses increased substantially.
