Share of 10 largest agrarian companies in grain production has reached 13.5 %
In total volume of grain produced by agricultural enterprises in 2009 the share of 10 largest companies has reached 13.5 %. It was announced by Ukrainian agribusiness club (UCAB).
In UCAB also have noticed that according to the study "Ukrainian Super-large Farms: efficiency and competitiveness" grain production direction is present practically in all largest companies of agricultural sector of Ukraine. The most substantial share of 10 largest companies in total grain produced by agricultural enterprises in Ukraine in the previous year is a share of corn which account for 27.6 %.
"Such specificity can be explained by high intensity of corn production which means beside high yield also quite big expenses of resources per area unit", expert on agricultural markets of UCAB Roman Slaston said. "It is heavy for small and medium enterprises to provide appropriate performance of all technological operations of cultivation of this pretty expend-needed crop. Large companies, which have better financial position and access to credit resources, occupy a substantial part of their land under corn and some of them grow up it practically as a monoculture", he adds.
