Sea ports of Russia increased grain shipment by 7 times
During the first quarter of 2009, the general cargo flow of sea ports of Russia increased by 4.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, and totaled 110.6 mln tons. Dry cargo shipment decreased by 7.3% and totaled 40.6 mln tons, bulked cargo shipment grew by 12.8% to 70 mln tons, declared the Association of sea trading ports of Russia on April 14.
The general volumes of export cargo shipment increased by 4.6% (85.7 mln tons) compared to the previous year, including grain cargos - by 7 times (4.4 mln tons), bulked cargos - by 6.3% (53.6 mln tons). At the same time, mineral fertilizers shipment almost halved.
Import cargo shipment decreased by 40% to 5.7 mln tons, including container cargos - by 44%, refrigerator cargos - by 34.6%.
The volumes of transit cargo shipment through sea ports of Russia increased by 18.6% (11.3 mln tons) due to crude oil, including the reduction of dry cargo shipment by 41.5%.
Cabotage cargo shipment increased by 1.6 times, including dry cargos - by 6.8% bulked cargos - by 2.1 times.
In the first quarter of 2009, several sea ports lowered a lot the level of cargo processing due to the consequences of the global economic crisis. Thus, in the first quarter of 2009, Kalinigrad sea trading port decreased cargo flow by 46%, Saint-Petersburg sea port - by 19%, Vladivostok sea trading port - by 26%.
