Russia increased wheat, rye and oats specific weight in the structure of grain production
According to preliminary data, in 2009, the general grain production in Russia totaled 97 mln tonnes in clean weight, a decrease of 10.3% compared to the previous year level, declared the Federal service of state statistics (Rosstat).
Last year, production volumes of main industrial crops lowered, including sunflower seed and sugar-beet (industrial) volumes. The fall of yield indices by 6.5% compared to the level of 2008 caused the decrease of sunflower seed production volumes.
In 2009, in the structure of grain crops, production volumes of wheat, rye, barley, oats, maize, millet, buckwheat and leguminous plants decreased compared to the previous year, at the same time, rice production volumes grew.
In 2009, in the structure of grain production, the specific weight of wheat, rye, oats grew compared to 2008, but the index of barley, maize groats and leguminous plants – decreased.
Agricultural organizations still remained as the main producers of grains and industrial crops. The share of agricultural organizations in grain production totaled 78.2%, sunflower production – 70.7%, sugar-beet – 89.3%, which completely corresponds to the previous year level.
