Russia: grain harvest in 2011 is expected at the level of 90 mln tonnes – V.Zubkov

In 2011, the general grain production in Russia is expected at the level of 90 mln tonnes, declared Viktor Zubkov, First Vice Premier of the Russian Federation, on July 14.

According to him, to date agrarians provide the harvesting works. The harvest volumes are higher compared to the last year. The actions, accepted by the Government, worked in full measures, in particular, the increase of grain sowing areas, providing farmers with seeds, fertilizers, petroleum products, credits, said V.Zubkov.

The Vice Premier said that the increase of grain production volumes compared to last year, is forecasted in all agricultural crops, in particular for barley and buckwheat, which faced large-scale deficit last year. Barley production is forecasted at the level of 17 mln tonnes against 6.5 mln tonnes last year, the harvest of buckwheat - 850 thsd tonnes against 330 thsd tonnes in 2010.
