Reni cargo port resumes handling of grain from Hungary
Reni Sea Commercial Port (Odesa region) has resumed the handling of grain from Hungary, the port's chief, Serhiy Stroya, said during hearings at the Agrarian Chamber of Ukraine on prospects for including Ukrainian ports in the common European transport policy in the sphere of cargo grain transportation.
He said that the port had resumed Hungarian grain handling due to the introduction by the Transport and Communications Ministry late in 2009 of a 50% discount on port rates on cargo handling. As a result, they fell from USD 3.4 to USD 1.7 per ton and became profitable for Hungarian grain traders.
