Reduction of wheat sowing areas in world - advantageous chance for Ukraine
The International Grains Council (IGC) warned about the oncoming reduction by 1% of world wheat sowing areas, UKRINFORM reports with reference to the Ukrainian Business Resource.
According to the Ukrainian Business Resource, against the outgoing marketing year in 2010/2011 the sowing area will be cut from 223.5 million to 222 million ha. The USA and Russia, the largest world's exporters of wheat, will face a problem of cutting down the grain production. Among the reasons for reduction, according to experts, are low purchase prices for wheat.
In the CIS countries, total wheat sowing areas in 2010/2011 will be preserved at the level of 2009/2010 marketing year. In the current season, the IGC forecasts reduction of threshing areas in Ukraine and Russia by 2% due to winter frosts.
In case of forecasts' realization with regard to reduction of sowing areas in the 2010/2011season, low prices for grain observed recently will change for high prices that will positively influence profitability of this culture production and preservation of stable positions of Ukrainian wheat on the world markets.
