Prysiazhniuk to inform government about situation on grain market
Ukrainian Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk has been instructed to inform the government at its meetings about the price situation on the grain market.
Prysiazhniuk received such an instruction from First Deputy Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov at a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Wednesday, a Ukrinform reporter said.
Im instructing the agricultural policy and food minister to inform government members about the current results of work at each meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Arbuzov said.
He said that the current task of the government is to stabilize grain prices. We should do everything to ensure that farmers dont lose due to market speculation, the first deputy prime minister said.
Arbuzov also recalled that the Agrarian Fund, before the beginning of the fieldwork, had purchased at market prices a million tons of wheat harvested in 2013 and paid UAH 940 million to agricultural producers on forward purchases. In addition, the State Food and Grain Corporation started forward purchases of corn and spot purchases of early grain crops.
