Prysiazhniuk accuses speculators of price growth for vegetables, fruits
Growth of vegetable and fruit prices in Ukraine is caused by the activities of speculators.
Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk has said about this, the press service of the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry informed.
The situation that is observed with prices for fruit and vegetable products is caused by the actions of speculators. And while agricultural producers are trying to gather the potato yield despite difficult weather conditions, speculators successfully use this by artificially driving up prices, the Minister said.
Therefore, according to him, in order not to pay the extra money for vegetables, which will be gathered plentifully this year, it is necessary to make purchases on the wholesale markets of agricultural products, where the prices are the lowest.
At the same time, Prysiazhniuk denied the fears as regards rising of prices for products following signing of the Association Agreement with the EU. Prices for products will not rise, since a civilized competitive environment will be in Ukraine. And if due to the zeroed import customs duty the European goods will cost cheaper, a price will be slightly cut for Ukrainian goods too, the Minister stressed.
