Prolonged rainfall to decrease wheat production volumes by 5-10% - HydroMeteorological Center
To date, the continuing rains in Ukraine caused damages to sowing areas of winter and spring wheat, reported Tatyana Adamenko, Head of agricultural department the HydroMeteorological Center of Ukraine.
According to her, as a result it can be expected to reduce harvest of the grain by 5-10%. However, she said, the final forecasts are too early to declare.
T.Adamenko stressed that the present weather conditions essentially affected sowings in Kirovograd, Vinnitsa, Kiev, Cherkassy oblasts, most regions of Odessa and Nikolaev oblasts.
At the same time, the expert noted that such agricultural crops as maize and sunflower have quite favorable situation.
