Only state operators pay market price for grain - Prysiazhniuk
In order to receive a real price for grain, agricultural producers must cooperate with the Agrarian Fund and the State Food and Grain Corporation. Just they, as state operators, pay a real market price for grain.
Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk told a press conference on Tuesday, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Two state operators have been actively working on the market - the Agrarian Fund and the State Food and Grain Corporation. The Agrarian Fund purchased 1.034 million tons of wheat of the 2013 yield to the state intervention fund. In other words, the Fund took a part of grain offers on the domestic market still before the harvesting period. And the State Food and Grain Corporation purchases early grain crops by spot contracts, the official summed up.
At the same time, he noted that due to high supply of grain on the market, speculators try to purchase it almost for nothing. The whole group of speculators has formed in Ukraine, who parasitize on the grain market. Almost every year, at the beginning of harvesting, they artificially drop prices for grain, buying it just on the grain field, the minister said.
He thinks that grain cooperatives will help drive them out from the market.
