Oil extraction plants recommended to buy sunflower seeds for UAH 3,000
According to Vice Minister of Agrarian Policy Ivan Demchak, the Ministry has recommended processing enterprises to purchase sunflower seeds for UAH 2,900-3,000 (EUR 258.87 USD 376.41) a ton. This price is higher than a year ago. The limit price for sunflower oil recommended by the Ministry in the domestic market stands at USD 800 a ton. In 2009 the sunflower crop in Ukraine came to 6.6mn tons and carry-overs totalled 300,000-400,000 tons. Since 1 January 2009, sunflower seeds export duty stands at 13% of the cost. For WTO members, Ukraine will annually cut the duty by 1% until it hits 10%. The duty will not be reduced after that.
