Nikolayev sea port offers Belgian companies to participate into creation of a lighter terminal
In the framework of international cooperation of Mykolayiv region and the Province of East Flanders (Belgium) Nikolayev Commercial Sea Port will offer the Belgian side project of Lighter marine terminal in the Bug-Dnieper basin.
Today Panamax vessels, carrying bauxite, iron ore, coal, grain and fertilizers, due to lack of port berths required depth of 14.5 m forced to carry the loading and unloading operations till full deadweight on the roads. According to the Mykolayiv Regional Administration, the creation of lighter marine terminal will significantly reduce the cost and timing of these works, and will increase the turnover of ports and terminals of Mykolayiv region up to 20 million tonnes per year.
From Belgian side - Ghent University and the port of Ghent, from the Ukrainian side - National University of Shipbuilding and SE "Nikolayev Commercial Sea Port" take part in the project.
