In 2009, Azerbaijan to ensure own needs of milling grains at the expense of the domestic production
The annual requirement of Azerbaijan in grains totals 3 mln tons, including 1.5 mln tons of milling grains. To date, Azerbaijan supplies the population with 95% of the domestic produced foodstuffs, declared Ismet Abbasov, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on May 7.
The aim of the government includes the providing of complete 100% maintenance of the population of the country with grains at the expense of the domestic production, explained the Minister.
According to him, in the current year, Azerbaijan will manage to secure completely the requirement of the population in milling grains.
In 2009, Azerbaijan expects to harvest 2.1 mln tons of grains.
