In 10-15 years, Russia to increase grain production to 120-125 mln tonnes

In the nearest 10-15 years, in the terms of using of additional land areas and the growth of yield indices, the general production volumes of grains in Russia will possibly grow to the level of 120-125 mln tonnes per year, declared Elena Skrynnik, the Minister of Agriculture of Russia, on October 2.

Such volumes will provide the stable exports of 40-50 mln tonnes to the countries of the Central and South-East Asia, the Middle East, Southern Europe and Africa, added the head of the Ministry.

According to her, during recent two years, Russia took the third and fourth place in the world at the volumes of wheat and barley supplies. In the segment, the share of the country reached the level of 14%.

Last agricultural year, grain exports from Russia totaled 23 mln tonnes at the sum of nearly 4 bln USD. In the current year, the forecast of grain exports totals 19-20 mln tonnes.

The Ministry of Agriculture plans to provide modernization of the existing infrastructure of grain storing and transportation, and launch new capacities for grain exports through the Black Sea and the Far East regions.
