Farmers sow spring crops on area of 100,000 hectares
Ukrainian farmers sowed grain crops on an area of 100,000 hectares during the spring sowing campaign, Vice Premier for Agro-Industrial Complex Viktor Slauta has said.
He said that the Autonomous Republic of Crimea had sown spring crops on an area of 60,000 hectares and that the sowing campaign was running in Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions.
The Ukrainian Agriculture Ministry forecast that the area to be sown with spring crops would be retained at last year's level - 7.3 million hectares. Farmers sowed winter grain crops on an area of 8.6 million hectares and winter rapeseed on an area of 1.4 million hectares for the 2010 harvest.
