European Union - Intervention barley
The release of barley from EU intervention is becoming increasingly urgent as demand for animal feed both within the bloc and globally grows.
According to French grain analyst Strategie Grains (SG), barley production in the EU in 2010 is expected to reach some 52.7 million tonnes in 2010, down from 61.8mt last year, while opening stocks on July 1 stood at just 0.6mt.
