Domestic prices for sunflower feel shortage of supply - experts
Despite the export sector weakening, domestic sunflower prices did not change in Ukraine last week due to lack of supply. As a result, the production of oil is becoming unprofitable, and in this context some refineries continue to operate half-heartedly.
The owners of commercial sunflower intend to continue holding their stocks and selling it only in small quantities, Infoindustria reported.
"However, the processors position can vary, as the cost of corn and wheat is now significantly reducing, and to increase working capital for the sowing campaign, they will be forced to sell more liquid sunflower," experts say.
During the reporting period, the prices of sunflower are fixed in the following range: 4,150-4,350 UAH/ton for intermediaries and 4,600-4,800 UAH/ton for farmers under EXW. Purchase prices under CPT for farmers are 4,750 - 4,950 UAH/ton, for mediators - 4,300-4,500 UAH/ton. The estimated export price of Ukrainian sunflower is $585-595 per ton, FOB Black Sea ports.
