Belarus started the mass harvesting campaign of grains
Belarus started the mass harvesting campaign of grains, declared the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the country.
As of July 20, 2011, agrarians harvested grains and leguminous plants throughout the areas of 140.4 thsd ha, or 5.8% of the planned areas. In the current year, agrarians will have to harvest grains and leguminous crops throughout the areas of over 2.4 mln ha.
Agrarians produced 424.6 thsd tonnes of grains. The average yield of grains and leguminous crops totaled 30.3 c/ha.
In the current year, Belarus plans to produce about 7 mln tonnes of grains, declared Vladimir Grakun, head of the main crop of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, on July 14.
According to him, the general grain production int eh country will most likely be at the level of last year. V.Grakun reminded that in 2010 Belarus produced 7 mln tonnes of grains in bunker weight.
Taking into account the maize sowing areas, the general harvesting areas will total 2.74 mln ha, and the general production volumes will exceed the last year results by 1.5 mln tonnes. Also, according to V.Grakun, in 2011 agrarians plan to produce 60 thsd tonnes of flaxseed, 600 thsd tonnes of rapeseed.
The mass harvesting campaign will end in 20-21 sunny days, said V.Grakun.
