Beet sugar production down
Ukraine produced 1.27 million tons of sugar out of beet of 2009 yield, 19.3% less against the previous sugar production season, the National Association of Sugar Manufacturers Ukrtsukor informs.
According to the association, over the season 2009/2010, beet was processed by 56 sugar plants, while over the previous year - 70.
In total, sugar enterprises accepted 9.44 million tons of beets from 2009 yield.
Experts explain reduction of beet sugar production by reduction of the beet yield last year.
Out of beet of 2008 yield, 70 sugar plants produced 1.574 million tons of beet sugar with the average need of 2.1 million tons for this product.
