Australia's stored wheat dips 9% in February
The Australian Bureau of Statistics reported on March 24 that at the end of February 2010, Australia's bulk storage of wheat grain was estimated at 15.6 million tonnes, 9% less than the amount stored at the same time in January.
Of the total wheat grain stored by bulk grain handlers, 86% (or 13.4 million tonnes) was milling grade, and 14% (or 2.1 million tonnes) was feed grade, according to ABS.
According to ABS data, stored wheat for New South Wales at the end of February was 3.3 million tonnes. Victoria reported 1.6 million tonnes of stored wheat. Queensland's wheat stores were slightly more than 1 million tonnes. South Australia reported 3.6 million tonnes of stored wheat, while Western Australia reported 5.9 million tonnes of stored wheat.
