As of the beginning of June, Ukraine sowed spring crops throughout 16.3 mln ha
According to the State Committee of Statistics of Ukraine, as of June 1, 2009, agricultural economies of Ukraine sowed spring crops throughout the area of 16.3 mln ha, an increase of 1.4% compared to the same date of 2008.
The structure of the spring sowing areas was formed from 33% of grains and leguminous plants (without maize), 13.2% of maize, 25.2% of sunflower, 2.1% of sugar-beet (industrial).
As of the beginning of June 2009, 470.4 thsd ha of winter sowings (5.9% from 8 mln ha) perished in winter and spring period, including 107.4 thsd ha of winter grains, declared the State Committee on June 15.
