As of October 3, Ukraine sowed winter grains throughout 62% of the planned areas
As of October 3, Ukraine sowed winter grains throughout the areas of 5.1 mln ha, which totaled 62% of the forecast, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
According to the announcement, on the same date last year agrarians sowed winter crops throughout 5.5 mln ha.
Agrarians of Ukraine sowed wheat throughout 4.6 mln ha (69% of the forecast), rye - 0.28 mln ha (81% of the forecast), barley - 0.25 mln ha (20% of the forecast).
Ukraine sowed winter rapeseed throughout almost 0.9 mln ha, or 93% of the forecast.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy forecasts winter crops sowing areas for the current year at the level of 9.2 mln ha, including winter grains sowings - 8.3 mln ha, up 280 thsd ha compared to 2010 results.
In 2010, Ukraine sowed winter crops for grain and forage throughout almost 9.3 mln ha, or down 9.1% compared to 2009. The areas under winter grains declined by 5.5% - to 8.088 mln ha.
