Agricultural turnover between Ukraine, Bangladesh USD 50 million in January-August - Prysiazhniuk
Ukraine is ready to start supply of poultry, dairy products and confectionary to the Republic of Bangladesh. National enterprises are also interested in boosting grain supplies to the Bengali market.
This was discussed at a meeting of Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk with Bangladesh Commerce Secretary Mahbub Ahmed, the press service of the agricultural ministry informs.
“I would like to note a positive dynamics of Ukraines cooperation with Bangladesh in bipartite trade in agricultural products. Over eight months of this year, turnover of agricultural products between the countries made up almost USD 50 million. And this is USD 42 million up against the entire previous year. And there are good prospects for boosting this dynamics,” the Ukrainian Minister noted.
He also said that since the beginning of the current year, export of Ukrainian agricultural products to the Bengali market made up USD 47 million. Over the previous year, this figure was USD 5.3 million, which is nine fold less.
Prysiazhniuk noted that Ukraine may considerably boost the volumes of domestic agricultural products supply to the Bengali market. In particular, in addition to expansion of national grain supplies, we are ready to export poultry, dairy products and confectionary. Supply of sunflower seed oil and sugar is also possible.
In turn, Bangladesh Commerce Secretary Mahbub Ahmed noted the prospects of cooperation with Ukraine in the agricultural sector and confirmed the interest in expansion of imports of Ukrainian agricultural products. In addition, the Bengali side showed an interest to the increase of fish supply to the Ukrainian market.
